my sister just got married!
but before we get to that,
her sorority sisters
threw her a beautiful bridal shower.
(remember my sister and brother’s engagement party here)

every single detail was thought about.

fabulous friends,

a house with amazing lighting,

and yard

and an unbelievable view.

generous gifts were given

and fabulous food was eaten.

the sorority sisters and their mommas.

my mom, sister and me.
And whatever you do,
whether in word or deed,
do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.

remember yesterday’s post?
well, here is D’s attempt
at taking L and my picture.

we’re in that stage with D
where i tell him something
and he thinks that he knows better.
in regards to everything.

don’t we do that same thing with God?
i certainly do.

we pray.
we pray so so hard
for what we want
but it’s so much harder to say
“but your will be done, Lord”
because we think we know better.
in regards to everything.

but the Lord’s way is always the best.
and His plans are the ones worth following.
O LORD, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
above the heavens.

you remember
the first of three
and then of course
the second of three…
well, here’s the third of three.

When I was a child,
I talked like a child,
I thought like a child,
I reasoned like a child.
When I became a man,
I put childish ways behind me.

remember the first of three last week?
well, here’s the second of three.

Jesus has been found worthy
of greater honor than Moses,
just as the builder of a house
has greater honor than the house itself.

this is the first of three.
over the next three weeks,
i will be displaying photos of
my children and me.
intentional photos.
of us.
together.
and be sure to take notice of
the huge pile of unfolded laundry
behind us.
because that is nearly a fixture
in our family room these days.

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory,
are being transformed into his likeness
with ever-increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

my little (big) guy
is getting so hard to carry these days.
it breaks my heart when i think about it
so i try not to let those thoughts settle.
instead, i have been strapping him onto my back
in my trusty ergo.
and you know what?
he’s happy as a clam there, too.

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror;
then we shall see face to face.
Now I know in part;
then I shall know fully,
even as I am fully known.

recently, we got to go out on the boat.
and it was lovely.
i think taking photos on a boat
on a very sunny day
may be my most favorite place
to take photos.
the lighting is fantastic
and the faces are cheerful.

while on the boat, we get to see all sorts of activity
while we just sit back and let the kids drive.

and this time, my dad brought the rice cooker
on board and we had an oatmeal feast!

i got photos with just my boys

and then with all of my kiddos!

the water was calm and the sun was shining.
oh, was it ever.

we even got to spend some time with Uncle S.

and of course, waved to our friends.

B snapped this one.

and everybody got lots of love.

we went on a different route this time

and all were quite excited.

then we had a good discussion on teeth.

our dentist told D that in the dental world,
he becomes an adult
when he gets his new molars
in the back.

well, looky there.
one is popping up in the back left.
he’s becoming a man before our very own eyes.

Aunt WW and soon to be Uncle B
came along as well.

their wedding date is rapidly approaching
(don’t stress out, Aunt WW!)

and then, they got very sleepy
(hence K not smiling in this photo).

But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.

we got to tour the army base
and this was some sort of contraption to climb on
during training.
or something.
all that i really took out of the tour
was that i was not created to be in the army.
not in any way.

and this was a glorious sunset
that we got the privilege of seeing.

and then we headed back into Tennessee.
because we had just previously been in Kentucky
but i missed that welcome sign because i was talking too much.
so you’ll just have to take my word for it.

and these are some of the cows
that live in my sister’s backyard.
we heard them moo
and got to watch the babies run around together.
my sister got to see one being born the week before we arrived.

and this little dude is just so darn cute.
i want to eat him up right now,
just looking at these photos.
and i do have to say that if you are
considering painting any walls in your house,
the nice blue color that my sister has
comes across beautifully in photos.
i’m just saying.

(i know it’s out of focus)
but i simply love how upset he is
with K’s music she was playing.
or maybe it was that she was playing with his toys.
or maybe it was that his momma was gone
and he missed her
and was fussy
and i was taking photos of him being fussy.
who knows.

j’adore.

j’adore even more
(notice my lack of french knowledge?)

i think E was the only one not afraid of the dogs
at this exact moment.

in fact, i think he loves them.
a tremendous amount.

my sis and i.
i think that our voices are pretty similar.
and i think that E thought so too,
because he would often look at me
with a completely baffled look on his face.
it was that
or just that i was this strange woman who
would
not
stop
taking photos.

and i especially love this photo because of
the sweater that he’s wearing.
both of my boys wore it.
and E’s father had the audacity to say
that it looked kind of grampa-ish.
but then i realized that the sweater that he was wearing
looked nearly exactly the same.

some good old winter grass.

and the three pairs of

cowberry boots.

love.
love.
love.

please take note that i was not driving
the vehicle at the time
that all of these photos were taken.
just in case you got worried.

now, this was
very,
very
exciting for us.

it was wildly exciting.

especially since the weather was supposed to
be getting better,
not worse
once we left Nashville.

we didn’t mind that it was getting whiter
and whiter
and whiter
one single bit.

the flakes were mesmerizing
and we often found ourselves
stopping whatever it was
we were talking about
to notice them.
glorious.

we then made it to Alabama
for a very fun bridal shower for Aunt WW.

there were questionaires
to be filled out.

and hugs from my girl.

and a lot of fun all around.

the bride-to-be
with two of her
future sisters-in-laws.
and that officially wraps up the trip.
For Christ’s love compels us,
because we are convinced that one died for all,
and therefore all died.
And he died for all,
that those who live
should no longer live for themselves
but for him who died for them
and was raised again.
