Home

heart day.

D was home sick a little while ago
so we started
and finished
our valentines!

it was a little gift from God.
because He knows that
i have a hard time finishing things.

and we did the same thing we did last year.
bookmarks!
because who doesn’t love a bookmark?

and i somehow even found a cute heart shaped hole puncher.
i usually find those things,
just right after that holiday.
but not this year.

and as you can see,
my little helper was so eager to assist me.

May the LORD repay you for what you have done.
May you be richly rewarded by the LORD,
the God of Israel,
under whose wings you have come to take refuge.
Ruth 2:12

lovely visitors.

we were blessed to have some lovely visitors last week.
lovely visitors that watch your kids.
and bring an amazing dinner.
and organize all the stuff in your garage.
even all of your wrapping stuff
(which i only just realized today).
and do all of your laundry.
and your ironing.

that’s right, Grammy

and, Cousin M came to visit!

don’t you think they could be sisters?
the girls obviously had a grand time dressing up

and being fairy godmothers.

and who doesn’t love a little game of croquet

on the front lawn
in cowboy boots?

Cousin M was such a good sport.
i think that she worked more than she played.

so next time, we’ll do some girly things like
paint nails and eat lots and lots of cookies.

the kiddos loved curling up
in Grammy’s bed in the morning.

Look to the LORD and his strength;
seek his face always.

haircut.

we give our kids their own haircuts.
you’re probably thinking,
“yeah, we know. we can tell.”

well, just pretend that it’s not that obvious.
okay?
okay.

what generally happens is that

i get a glimpse of my children
and realize that not only do they need a haircut,
but they need it immediately.

and i can’t stand the thought of waiting an entire day
to snip all of that extra hair off
so that i can see their eyes again.
and not just mounds and mounds of hair.

L and i had gone swimming earlier in the am
as part of PT
in his most amazing school
and it’s a very warm pool.
like hot.
they keep it at 92 degrees.
yes, it’s warm.
and it’s indoors,
so the entire room is like a sauna.

but personally, i would much rather be
way too hot than way too cold.
B and i often debate as to which really is the best situation.
he’d much rather be too cold.

anyway, after we go swimming,
L’s hair curls like his big sister’s
and then it kind of frizzes and it’s just a big hot mess.

so that’s when i realized that he needed a haircut.
we were playing in the backyard anyway,
so it was a simply perfect situation.

i can see his eyes again.

Whatever exists has already been named,
and what man is has been known;
no man can contend
with one who is stronger than he.

little love.

this little love
has been working his tushie off
every day of the week.

and by the blessing of God,
he is about to get something very new
and very awesome.

much, much more on that coming soon.
stay tuned.

But who are you, O man, to talk back to God?
“Shall what is formed say to him who formed it,
‘Why did you make me like this?’”
Does not the potter have the right
to make out of the same lump of clay
some pottery for noble purposes
and some for common use?

we woke up early.

sometimes we wake up early for a surgery.
sometimes we wake up early  to go on a trip.
and sometimes we wake up early to go to Disneyland!

and i think that instagram is my new love language.

Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away,
yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are
achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal.

guess who.

did you play the game,

guess who

when you were a kid?

well, we did and i have such fond memories

of playing this game with my siblings.

my children got it for christmas

from my sister, (Aunt WW) and her fiance, B.

B even gave them an option to play

guess who with the presidents of the USA.

how cool is that?

very cool.

i think that L wanted to join in on the fun,

or at least confiscate the game for a bit.

The LORD is near to all who call on him,

to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.

my husband is a writer.

a very funny one at that.

and he has a new book coming out in may!

and as i am sure you can guess,

i am about as thrilled as can be.

it’s hysterical (like him).

and entertaining (like him).

and i’ve read it and loved it.

and i hope that you do, too.

he’s always up when i am feeling down.
we’re a good combo like that.

and if you’re anything like us,
you never have a photo together.
never.
ever.

so i asked our kids to take a few shots
when the sun was
shining perfectly
through our trees in the back.

and i am so glad to have these photos.
for no other reason than
just because.

side note: don’t you think that

my hair is too long in this photo?

me, too.

so i chopped it off.

photo update coming soon.
xoxo.

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened
in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you,
the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
