Home

this boy.

this boy
has been reading up a storm.
it’s most definitely his favorite thing to do

besides legos.

and our neighbors across the street
have an extensive children’s library
in their house
because the wife used to be a school teacher.

and have offered to let us
borrow any and all books.
so as you can imagine,
he is a happy little duck.
and so am i.

so that your faith might not rest
on men’s wisdom,
but on God’s power.

more on christmas.

our Christmas celebrations continued.
oh, how they continued.

we got to talk to Gramma Pink via skype
on Christmas morning.
that was such a treat
because she had never skyped before.
never.
yes, it was really special.

then, we headed to B’s mom’s house
for the next celebration.

D, K and L smothered their Grammy,
along with all of the cousins.

her tree, looking as beautiful as can be.

and the newest cousin, JM,
sleeping through the festivities.

then we headed to the next stop:
Papa and GramMary’s!
where we had seven-and-a-half hours of opening gifts.
and yes, we have finally recovered from that.

we then headed to our next and final stop.
Great Grammy and That Guy’s
Christmas celebration.

and this photo.
oh, this photo.
may just be my new favorite.
(thanks, Aunt WW!)

one of my favorite places to take photos.
on the edge of the dock.

and this was our little L,
all bundled up in the stroller
ready to check out the lights
on our annual walk.

phew.
the last photo of the Christmases.
we made it.

and now, a happy birthday to my mom!

For Christ did not send me to baptize,
but to preach the gospel—
not with words of human wisdom,
lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

oh, christmas.

oh, christmas.
how fun you were.
we were so excited for you to arrive
and equally excited when it
was time for you to go.

we did a lot.
we saw a lot.
we went here.
we went there.
we went everywhere.
and now it is done.
and we made it through.
and now we’re on the other side.
phew.

as usual, the christmas festivities
started with the boat parade.

i surprised the bigs
with a trip down south
to get a first-class view
of the christmas lights.

and this is the sweet view
i continued to see from the kitchen.
L, pulling himself up on the couch
to see what the bigs were up to.

and this is how L responded to santa.

K was much more comfortable,

but D wouldn’t even look at the big guy.
he did enjoy his cupcake, though.

and we had a great visit with these special people.

our tree on christmas eve, eve.
which was actually our christmas eve.
it’s complicated so just go with it.

and our stockings.

and on christmas morning
(christmas eve for you)

we sliced open an orange B has been growing.
and yes, it was delicious.

and we sang happy birthday to Jesus.
after that, we packed up
and headed to a fun location nearby.

our reflections.

the glorious tree.

God, who has called you into fellowship
with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
is faithful.

this guy.

first of all,
a big thank you
to my dad

(who also has a blog: dan likes this)
for fixing up this new little blog for me
and adding so many things
that i didn’t even know existed in blogland.

after a day of unintentional rest for me

(i.e. sick)

i have come to the conclusion that

i’m trying to do too much.

each and every day.

and failing

and flailing

in the process.

but this guy,

he’s amazing.
as i listened from the

quarantined corner of my bedroom,

i was amazed.

seriously.

seriously amazed

at how he handles everything so flawlessly.

from cancelling therapies

to picking up D from school

to calling in reinforcements when needed

and meanwhile, taking such great care of me.

i don’t know how he does it

but i do know that i have a thing or two to learn from him.

(and this is not my fever talking.)

 Grace and peace to you
from God our Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ.

it is time.

my sister has been helping me work on

this new site

for quite some time now.

i finally decided it was time.

i’ve got
a new look and
a new focus.

i’m going to try to get this little blog
back to what it was like when it started.

moments.
that are not lost.
little forgettable moments.
that are not to be forgotten.

life is moving.
life is moving very quickly.
and i feel like i’m missing it.

and here is a photo of her
with pink paint in her hair from school.

and you know what?
K has always pronounced hospital as
“hostable” and just recently
she said “hospital.”
i know.
things are changing.

my kids are growing up.
they are changing and
maturing and
growing.

and i am tired of missing it
because i’m so distracted by life.

life that is
wildly spinning
out of control.
way out of control.

so here we are.

welcome to this new little space.

We were therefore buried with him
through baptism into death in order that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead
through the glory of the Father,
we too may live a new life.

oh, christmas.

i haven’t even begun
looking at our christmas photos yet.
but i will soon.
and i of course
will share them on my little blog
for you all to see the insanity
which was our christmas this year.

but for now,
here is our annual photo in front of the tree
(i try to print these out
and put them as ornaments
on our tree but i fear
i am a couple of years behind
in doing that).

He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.

this little one.

this little one
never ceases to crack me up.

she says that if there’s music playing,
she can’t help herself but dance.
and boy is that true.

she’s constantly teaching herself new dance moves
and showcases them whether we want to see
her millionth dance performance of the day or not.

she is the huggiest one we have.
always wanting one and always giving one.
even if her little brother isn’t always
so accepting of the love pouring out of her.

i only wish that i had her amount of energy
to carry me through the day.
and she’s not drinking a cup of coffee in the morning.
i promise.

Sing to him, sing praise to him;

tell of all his wonderful acts.

Glory in his holy name;

let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

Look to the LORD and his strength;
