punch of color.

i received something new
from this lovely lady.

and i can’t stop wearing it.

isn’t is just so lovely?
so simple and perfect with that little punch of color.
one of my favorite colors.

she got it from this beautiful etsy shop
and it was a custom necklace
(based upon a bracelet she was selling).
go check her shop out!

was sandy.

we have this old sand table
that can’t be a sand table any more
because its top is broken.

so, B had the great idea

to turn the old sand table
into a new water table.
hoorah.
everybody
loves it.

including L.
and mommy.

oh, he is certainly my delicious boy.

Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,

things have been pretty fun around here.
B’s college buddy, L
came over and brought
Kung Fu Panda
to watch with the bigs.

as you can see,
there were moments
that they weren’t quite sure about.
but L didn’t seem to mind.

a few days ago,
we gave D a haircut and
he asked if his hair could look like L’s.
B tried his hardest
but made no promises.

That everyone may eat and drink,
and find satisfaction in all his toil–

take a hike.

we went on a hike.
as a family.

and you know what?
it was great.
it was actually really great.

B and i were both expecting
major meltdowns
by the bigs who hiked alongside us.
but they did marvelously.
really, they did.

and they made it a lot farther than we were expecting.
so that was a nice surprise.

we did have to distract them
from complaining a couple of times
with all the nature that surrounded us.
that was a nice change.

and of course, little L
was a trooper in the backpack.

the fog was just starting to burn off
as we made it to the top.

and how about that family photo!
definitely frameworthy.
i can’t believe that everyone is looking at the camera.
and smiling?!
i must be dreaming.

on the way down,
K wouldn’t stop running.
that girl is wild and crazy.

this little man smiled at each and every passerby.

we didn’t see any mountain lions
or rattlesnakes so that was a major bonus.
we will definitely be doing this again.

You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.

my love language is
not cooking dinner
(unless it’s a Dream Dinners).
you think i kid
but i do not.

(a beautiful dish made by the one and only Auntie B)

by the end of the day,
the very last thing that i enjoy
is cooking up a fine meal for my family.
especially since it’s takes so much
to find one meal that everyone
not only will put up with
but thoroughly enjoy.

picture me {im}perfectly
is a weekly project to reveal that we don’t have it all together.

i will post a
picture me {im}perfectly
blog post every wednesday
where you will be able to link up to your blog
revealing that:

you are not picture perfect,
your kids are not picture perfect,
your house is not picture perfect,
your crafts are not always picture perfect,

let’s
encourage,
inspire and
remind
other women
that none of us have it all together.

In everything I did,
I showed you that by this kind of hard work
we must help the weak,
remembering the words
the Lord Jesus himself said:
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

little reminders.

sometimes when things are going smoothly,
we need those
little reminders
that we are not in control.
ever.
and we aren’t promised smooth sailing.
ever.
and that our goal in life
should not be to craft a perfect life.
ever.
and that our goal in life
should be to craft an obedient life.
always.
and that we are actually promised trials.

after five months and one day of nothing,
L had another seizure.
it was small
and he came out of it quickly
but it was still a seizure.

i can’t imagine how he feels afterward
but both B and i were
totally and completely
zapped from all energy.
both physically and emotionally.

i cannot begin to put into words
how a parent feels while watching their child
go through something like that.
horrifying
is the only word that comes to mind.
and it doesn’t even quite encapsulate
the emotions involved.

so we move forward.
(we have no choice.)
we cling to Him and to
the hope that only He provides.

i started a new devotional
(thanks to this lovely lady)
and this little excerpt struck my soul:

The burden of suffering seems to be a tombstone
hung around our necks. Yet in reality it is simply
the weight necessary to hold the diver down
while he is searching for pearls.
Julius Richter

it is a blessing to be
completely humbled and
completely broken and
feeling so completely helpless.
it is such a blessing.
because i can see now more than ever before
God’s mighty work in my life.

and i can see
my desperate,
desperate need for Him.

Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
