ten on ten button

as promised.

we spent a jammed packed couple of days celebrating.
so settle in, because i have a lot of photos to show you.

the only time i saw these streamers being used
was when they were thrown at B
as we were trying to scare his hiccups out of him.
for the record, it didn’t work.

Great Gram shared a sip of her root beer float with D.

a little golf was played.

one of my new favorites.

don’t be fooled.
he sat on her lap for about 17 seconds.

a sweet rose outside of Great Gram’s place.

because what else says
happy 4th of july
like a tiny dog in a purple tutu?

That Guy teaching K how to drum.

this is his
“why are taking a photo of this?”
look.
i am very familiar with that look.

we were blessed enough to be included in a
pancake breakfast on the boardwalk
with neighbors of my Grammy’s.
isn’t the hostess’ hat just lovely?
lovely.

That Guy all decked out.

the boys.

we decided it was about time for our kids to enjoy boogie boarding.

they got the hang of it in the wave-less bay

while L and i kept cool under our new umbrella
(thanks, dad!).
and yes, L does have his socks on.
at the beach.
his foot is still healing
so this protected it enough from the sand.

aren’t they so cute?
and they were playing nicely together too.
it was weird.

and then they smiled when i asked them to.
at the same time.
very weird.

L kept busy moving all the sand around.
he’s an organizer, just like his mom.

my dad BBQd a lovely dinner

while Great Gram adorned her
patriotic false eyelashes
all the way from Hollywood Boulevard.
(you can thank my sis for getting her those years ago.)

Aunt WW and her B.

Uncle S and his E.

then,
(as if that all wasn’t enough)
the bigs, B, my dad and i headed to the bay
on my Grammy’s little electric boat
for the fireworks show.

my mom kindly stayed home and watched L sleep.
she also did all of the BBQ dishes
because we all ran out of the house
once the meal was over.

we had a front row view
and it was spectacular.
probably one of the most memorable 4th of july’s
B and i have ever had.

and then about ten seconds after singing
happy birthday to America,
the bigs fell fast asleep.
it was lovely.

1278. K’s tears after breaking something of D’s
1279. the laundry being under control
(at least for five more minutes)
1280. the perfect 4th

a sneak preview.

we had a smashing 4th.
i hope that you did, too!

here is just one photo to tease you with.
(i was hoping to post them all today
but decided i best do the thousand
other things that needed my attention.)
come back tomorrow for the rest…

1271. a chance to clean up the house all by my lonesome
1272. airport runs with the kids in their jammies
1273. the breeze greeting me after a hot dish washing session
1274. cold showers on warm nights
1275. recently swept floors

for my birthday.

when we celebrated our sixth anniversary
(two years ago)
i was on bedrest in the hospital,
pregnant with L.

B surprised me with
take-out from Houston’s
and brought a dress and earrings for me from home.

he them blessed me with a beautiful bracelet
that had three rings intertwined,
a ring to signify each of our children.

well, something has happened to that bracelet
and we are not sure where it is.
it is slightly possible that some sub-par locksmiths
that we had in our home swiped it,
but we’re not sure.
maybe it will show up in K’s dress-up box
(but i’ve searched and searched for it).

so for my birthday this year,
B blessed me with a new bracelet,
to replace the missing one.

Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:
He will make your righteous reward
shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun

happy, happy 4th.

happy, happy 4th of july!

i hope that you get to
spend some good time
with family and friends
on this special day.

we spent last weekend at B’s mom’s
and his sister and her family came to join in on the fun.
it was kind of an early 4th of july celebration
along with four birthdays thrown in there.

my camera strap + new favorite dress
(dress from h+m)

sweet, little S.

aren’t those eyes and lips scrumptious?

come on.
too delicious.

and mr. K.
he’s always up for an adventure and
is braver than anything or anyone.

sweet MK with J.

and little miss M.
do you see where K gets her curly hair?

we had the cutest picnic lunch by the pool.
we realized that it is the safest
(and most enjoyable)
place for us to be
while the children are running
here, there and everywhere.

never
ever
gives B hugs.
so this moment was lovely.
most of the time, L thinks that
B is his personal human tripod.

L got a new subscription to babybug.
i’m not sure who was more excited

C with J.

Grammy bought a fabulous
bubble wand for all of us to enjoy.

here, a pregnant MK is helping my K.

it was a big hit with everyone.

sister + brother.

MK + C.

i hope that you all have a wonderful day
celebrating our great country!

warm and busy.

it’s been warm.
we’ve been busy.
we needed a morning out
where our only objective was to have fun.
and so that is what we did.

this sprayer was D’s favorite.
when it was on,
he’d run and play in it and
when it would turn off,
he’d come and sit by us on the towel.
he’s like me.
figure out what you like and
don’t mess around with anything else.
i’m like that especially at restaurants.

L and i watched the bigs
from a dry towel.

it was marvelous.

Love must be sincere.

cling to what is good.

happy birthdays.

june is a big birthday month in our house.
three of us have birthdays this month.
since we already celebrated L with my family,
(see this and this)

it was time for B and my celebrations!
we had a lovely dinner out
(well, as lovely as dinner
in a restaurant is with three children)
and then dessert
(ice cream cake… my favorite)
back at our place.
it was lovely.
and we felt very, very celebrated.
and we even got a photo together.
how about that.

I am with you and will watch over you
wherever you go,
and I will bring you back to this land.
I will not leave you until I have done
what I have promised you.

pick your own.

not too long ago,
we ventured way, way out of town
to go blueberry picking.

and this year,
we brought our own wagon.
which was absolutely splendid.

picking fruit is one of my all-time favorite things to do.
(you can read about our trip to this farm last year)
i absolutely love it.
i really, truly do.

and i am so thankful that Auntie B
is always more than willing to go with me
because B would rather not.

don’t you just love this look he’s got going on?
80’s glasses and snakeskin cowboy boots.

K picked a ton.
unfortunately, none made it into the container.
and i mean not a one.

Auntie B and i talked about how incredible it would be
for just the two of us to go berry picking someday.
i can’t even fathom how many berries we could get.

but, if we did that,
we would mean miss out on the fun
outhouse usage while at the farm.
if you know me,
you know that i will do just about anything
to avoid using an outhouse
(let alone a public bathroom).
but my children?
not so much.
i can’t even remember how many times
K needed to “just try.”

it did get quite toasty out there.

so to cool off, we had a little picnic lunch

and celebrated D’s half birthday.

(forced smiles are sometimes cute.)
we hope to head back for more
blueberry picking before the season is over!

and a happy, happy birthday
to my one and only B!
