Home

the season has begun.

it is official.
fudge season has begun.
B made his first batch last night.
and if you haven’t had some of his mom’s famous fudge,
you are really missing out.
if you’re in the neighborhood,
you should swing on by for a glass of cold milk and a couple pieces.
and yes, you must have milk with the fudge.
it’s completely necessary.

i don’t know if you know this,
but i’m famous for making the fudge, too.
so famous that the one time i tried making it,
i burned the sugar and the house smelled so badly
that we had to go out to dinner
even though we were planning on eating in.
yep, that’s surely the fame i was hoping for.
i now am B’s assistant.
he’s so good at making it,
why do i need to try?
that’s right, i don’t.

we had a slow start to the morning yesterday.
B took D to school, so there wasn’t a big push to get the kids ready to leave the house.
after i finally got K to agree to get dressed,
i had to bribe her to let me do her hair.

she said that she wanted to wear her hair “just like this.”

yeah, that wasn’t cool with me.
so i let her listen to any music she wanted if she let me do her hair.

and this, this is what she looked like afterwards.

don’t you just want to eat her up?

i do.

D just got this book from this sweet girl and has been absolutely enthralled by it.
while the two littles were sleeping, we snuggled on the couch together
and read until i was just about to fall asleep.
you see, when i stop moving,
my body thinks it’s napping time.

so instead of a nap, we made a  snowflake for each member of the family.
actually, he picked the designs out, i cut them and he unfolded them.

and this morning,
B suggested we teach L more signs.
so while i was getting ready, he showed him a few essential signs:

vcr
triangle and
photosynthesis

yep, those will definitely come in handy on a daily basis.
definitely.

twirls of curls.

it’s {embrace} the camera day!

i’ve been noticing lately that K’s hair

desperately needed a trim.
so…

a few snips here and a few snips there.
and voila!

when i finished, she asked if all the curls were gone.
the poor thing thought that i had cut them all off!

little did she know that the curls just coiled right back up
and went on their merry little way.

i did tell her about 493 times
“now remember, only mommy cuts your hair, right?”
we’ll see if that works.
i’ll be sure to let you know.

471. K’s new ‘do
472. an absolutely incredible day on monday
(more on that soon)
473. the promise of fudge
474. taking too many photos
475. early bedtimes
(for both the kids and me)

well.

well, yesterday was quite the day.

L had a bit of a fever and when he didn’t seem to be getting
much better,
but instead got
much worse,
i started freaking out.
because i’ve been there before.

i considered the comfort of my clothes
(if they would stand up to the test of an overnight stay in the hospital),
whether or not my cell phone was charged up,
if i had eaten enough for the day
(the answer was definitely no),
what the big kids would think.
and on and on and on.

fearfully, L and i headed to the doctor’s to see what they would say.

Praise the Lord,
it seems to be just a virus
and will hopefully run its course in a few days.
it definitely got worse once we got home
(103.6 temp.)
but then it got better
(98.6 temp.).
instead of being prepped for a stay in the hospital,

i was yet again, prepped for what to do in case of a seizure.
we know that having the condition that L has
already puts him at risk for seizures
and illnesses merely increase that chance.

but last night,
after some medicine,
and some good food,
L was nearly back to himself.
Praise the Lord.

in other news,
this little blog has been nominated for
the blog guidebook 2010 top blog.

round one of voting will begin on saturday.
i’ll be sure to give you all the details.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Luke 12:6-7

466. not being admitted to the hospital
467. my dad who folded a pile of laundry that he thought was clean
(so, so, so sorry dad!)
468. my parents who watched the bigs for the afternoon
469. a blog nomination
470. the joy of the children watching B order pizza online

thank you, trader joe’s.

tj’s has new
thankful stickers
which has brought much laughter to our home.

K asked me what one of them said.
so i said, “i am thankful for, blank.”
“what are you thankful for?”

she said, “blank.”

and this is what i found when we arrived back home.
the poor little guy has no idea he is his sister’s canvas.

461. tj’s thankful stickers
462. my grammy! happy, happy birthday!
463. grocery shopping with only two children
464. L’s sweet kisses
465. our heated home

something fabulous has happened.

something fabulous has happened.

D is very excited,

K is equally as thrilled,

L won’t stop smiling,

which all has made me very happy.

we now have grass in our backyard!

and, this grass in particular
never
ever
has to be watered.
ever.

yep, it’s totally and completely fake.

it even has some brown specks throughout
to make it look real.
prior to this, we had something i liked to call
“the dirt circle”
which, as you can guess, was
dirt in a circle.

i couldn’t stand it.
not only did the children bring in
loads and loads of dirt
every time they came into the house,
there wasn’t anywhere to put L.
it was hot and dusty and just plain terrible.

a big thanks to B who negotiated with the owners of our house to put grass in.

we have been spending so much time outside now.

and there’s a perfect place for L to sit.

it’s awesome.

456. grass
457. having fun in the yard
458. L using the straw in his sippy cup
459. mobiles and fish
460. smiling kiddos

oh, the joys.

oh, the joys of self-feeding!

i couldn’t be happier.

and neither could L’s OT.

451. self-feeding
452. the brisk, brisk morning
453. feeling refreshed when the kids awakened this morning
454. bananas in my cereal
455. K and mommy time

a big day.

sunday was a
very,
very
big day for us.

the children adorned fancy clothes,
(which as you can see, they were absolutely thrilled about.)

L wore his sweet little shoes,

we were surrounded by our family,

we all sat in the pews at church,

and waited in great anticipation

for our sweet little L’s baptism.

the same pastor who baptized both D and K was able to baptize L as well.
and what’s even sweeter is that she visited him while he was in the NICU and has been faithfully praying for him since before he was born.
there was even some water from the river jordan in the baptismal waters
(which D and K were able to have as well).

the event caused Auntie B to cry
(a very rare occurrence),

and Uncle J even wore a tie
(an even rarer occurrence),

back at our house,
Auntie B (and of course Uncle J)
helped with the food.
actually, that’s not true.
they completely handled every element of the food.

mid-way through the celebration,
L decided he no longer needed to wear his tie.
it was probably a good idea because he was enjoying chomping on it,
a little too much.

our handsome posing with Grammy.

Aunt P (a.k.a. tickle bug)
got some good hands-on time with little L.

and Grammy’s sweet friend, DF joined the momentous day.

sunday was a day that we will hold close to our hearts forever.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call on me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me
when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:11-13

(the photos from church were all taken by my most talented brother.)

446. an unexpectedly warm morning
447. celebrations
448. cherry sauce on top of waffles
449. being able to watch the sun rise

the children have been waking much, much too early)
450. having the family together
